It will handle it fine. Still using one here myself, there are newer coolers that may knock 2-3c of temps, but not really worth the price when you already have a decent cooler.
I used the Thermalright Ultra on my i7 920 D0 with it Overclocked to 4ghz and saw temps around 65 - 75c depending on the time of year with the pc at full load.
Ive never tried the apaches myself, but as the vipers are a bit faster, and have a higher static pressure rating, i suspect they'd perform a bit better than the apaches.
At the same speed, the viper and apache are the same, both static pressure and noise. Its just the viper is an update to the apache, and can if needed run quite abit faster. Thats the only difference, well apart from colour lol.
