Hey guys ive got my 930 ramped up to 4.2ghz with settings (200x21) Voltage set to auto on the assassin board max ive seen it at is 1.392V and maximum temp of 84C on the d14 after a 24 hour run from prime 95 100%. never had any instability issues with it i was wondering if you guys think i should push it a tiny bit more for gaming as in games my max temp never exceeds 60 or would you think 4.2 is a fair overclock for my chip im sure my motherboard (g1assassin) can pull more than 4.2 from this chip especially with the dual 8 pin for 16phase. anyway hope you guys can give me some advice or opinions, thanks again

I would advise manually overclocking yourself (setting the voltage), personally I wouldn't be comfortable with my CPU running that hot even if it is just benchmarks. Currently I have the 920 @ 3.8Ghz on 1.31v (C0/C1) which just reaches the low 70's with prime95 with a scythe mugen.

I very much doubt you'd see any difference with a slightly higher overclock and I doubt you're having performance issues related to your CPU. Your rig should be more than capable of happily running anything that's around at the moment assuming you're playing at 1080p or something similar ;)

I would certainly start to look to see what you can bring the voltage down to at those clocks and see what sort of difference it makes to the temps. It could mean you actually quite a bit of headroom with regards to speeds if the current voltage is a lot higher than you really need for 4.2GHz.

The temp is high, but you dont go maxing out the CPu all the time like you do with Prime95, can you log what temps it reaches doing the stuff the PC is used for?

try clocking through dvid,i could run at 4.2ghz with cpu set to normal and applying extra v at load in dvid

wont help load temps but allows cpu to throttle at idle saving heat/power

Through a gaming load i have never gone past 57 i will try to bring the voltage down slightly i left it on auto because i wasnt 100% sure but il have a play around see whats stable and
