Sig in rig.

Considering an upgrade to a shiny new Radeon 280X and a decently sized SSD in the near future, but I'm wondering if I need to go deeper and go the whole hog on an upgrade including CPU/Mobo/Memory.

So I'm wondering if my i7 950 (Stock! 3.06Ghz) is still up to the job of giving the latest and greatest GPU's everything they need in raw horsepower....

i have a i7 920 with a modest overclock of 3.4 ghz and a radeon r9 290 and still dont feel like im being bottlenecked by anything including battlefield 4 which i get a good 60-80 fps out of on max at 1920x1200. I came from a 6950 same as op and it over doubled my performance in games at least

My i7960's at 4.2 and i dont think its bottlenecking my gtx 780 any, So a 280x should be fine other than benching stock to 4.2 i dont see more than 1-5ish fps gain in most games

Heh, thought as much, shiny new Toxic 280X ordered, will give the 950 a thrashing tonight after reading a few guides to get all clued up again. Last OC I did was a Q6600 to 3Ghz lol.
