Hi Guys

I just got my new goodes from OCUK yesterday.

Intel i7 950
Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R
6gb OCZ i7 Edition memory
plus 2 GTX265

Running a tagan 1100w psu
2 x 150gb wd raptors
1 x 1tb
LG DVD drives

Im having problems getting windows 7 x64 installed, it bombs out at 70% of the install - even Vista x64

Things ive done.

Updated bios, Changed HDD, changed DVD Drive, Changed Windows 7 install DVD, Changed sata/raid setups also installed drivers for sata controlers from motherboard DVD at install, oh and used 1 or both GFX card in different orders.

Now the funny thing is i can install Win7 x86 but as soon as i run system rating, wait till it gets to checking the cpu and it crashes. Ive checked the system temps and the highest ive had it is 61c at crash.

It hovers around 30c when doing nothing.

Ive also noticed at the post screen the board things its a 3.2ghz but as soon as you go into the bios or windows it says 3.06

Any advice guys

Download and run mem test to double check your ram, as you may have a faulty stick, also double check the voltage in the BIOS as this may need to put 1.64v.

i did check the voltage good call with memtest didn't think about that, i wonder if that's why it installs 32bit as it don't use all the memory.

Good call with the memory, it turns out its duff. Installs just fine with 2 sticks. Will run memtest to find out what one it could be and RMA the bad boys.

Knew i should have gone for Corsair

I had fun and games last year with OCZ Gold, had 2 lots which were faulty, ended up going with Patriot, been good as gold.

To be honest, some one in the Motherboard sectiin has purchased some Corsair and he has got one stick faulty :(

Least you found culprit, put a note in the Customer section and hopefully Ocuk will give you the RMA details.

Now this is very strange.

I managed to install everything with 2 sticks of memory and was running fine.

I put the 3 sticks back in to run MEMTEST and that came back with a Pass which i thought was odd. I left the 3 sticks in and it gave me a raid error, recreated the raid drive with the 3 but the machine was slowing right down.

Went back to 2 sticks and the raid failed again, recreated and now i have drive errors.

I think i will be sending Board and Mem back under RMA

I noticed your running the ud5 board is it worth the extra money?

At the time yes, as the i7 had not been out long, and the lower end boards were coming out with updates to allow them to be used with SLI & Crossfire, I can't remember what the main differences were, This board has Firewire & ESATA and plenty of sata ports and could run SLI or crossfire without a BIOS update.

Overclocking was a breeze and the board is very stable.

If I could purchase today then I probably would have not spent so much.
