Hi
new to overclocking and have a question regarding a bundle I just bought.
I recently got the Krypton Intel Core i7 950 3.06GHz @ 4.00GHz USB3 Overclocked Bundle:
Bundle Specification
- CPU: Intel Core i7 950 3.06GHz @ 4.00GHz
- Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-X58-USB3 (Socket 1366) DDR3 Motherboard
- RAM: Corsair XMS3 (3x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Triple Channel
- mine came with a Titan Fenrir Evo CPU Cooler
Bundle all worked fine except it would run through bios, say retrieving lost Dram turn off then boot again correctly so effectively booting twice when I turn it on. CPU-z reports cpu @4004 once started so OC fine and perfectly stable.
Next problem was SMART reporting was not working on OCZ Vertex 2 120gb which I have for my bood drive.
The bundles mobo had the F1 BIOS version and on reading up Gigabyte says to flash to version F2 to fix my problems - but of course if I flash I lose support from overclockers for my OC.
So my question is If I flash to version F2 and just enter the OC values from Bios version F1 would you expect it to still work or would I need to basically go through OCing it myself to get it to work with the new F2 bios version.
Can different BIOS version effect your max achievable OC?
Another question in the bundle the OC bclk = 182 with x22 which gives mem freq of 1456,
is this normal as I've read others say use bclk = 200 with x20 multi to get the memory frequency back to its actual 1600
Thanks
