Hi

I noticed my i7 950 temps this morning where idling at around 70 degrees. Is this normal or going to be a problem. I have not overclocked it and i use a Coolermaster V8 to cool it.

thanks

Wow that's hot! Mine idles below 40, how far varying depending on the weather....
Edit: Oops thought you wrote 750.... mine is a different CPU so not much point comparing!

OK so i've removed the CPU cooler, cleared it of dust and taken the paste of the bottom, I took the paste of the CPU and applied fresh paste, also blasted it gently with a hoover...temps now running at around 50 degrees, house is pretty warm at the moment, any thing else I can do to lower it further? CPU useage showing 0 - 1 % so don't think its a process

is it in a closed cupboard or something? 50 would sound about right if it was, 40 is normal idle and a sealed cupboard usually adds 5-10 degrees

in a space with nothing above it but a sofa on the left and the side of a wooden desk on the right with only about 3 inches either way. Its idled between 40 and 50 degrees for the last 4 hours or so....its main purpose is iTunes on the weekend, l'll play battlefield 3 tomorrow and see what happens

sounds about right i have a 965 stock with a h40. its in a 800d with one fan (pullat rear) idle is around 40-50 (doing full watercooling oct-nov)

I had better temps than that at idle using a coolermaster 212 evo on my old i7 920 and that was OCed to 4.0ghz. Would say check the voltage its given by the mobo using CPU-z and report back.

Mine idles at 45c + , gets to 75c during Crysis3, I wouldn't worry about it, I have had it pass 85c during encoding..... mind you. i'm not worried about it this chip at all so you might not want to listen to me

There hot power hungry CPU's

(Edit) 3.6Ghz air cooled.
