A bit over £400 and due in two days. That is exciting.

Though, 32nm is due soon, and I'm only just getting my 920 stable. I think I'll have to be patient

A viable choice for someone needing to buy an i7 set up now and can't wait until the die shrink. Upgrade path? Not really imo.

Nice to see intel slowly putting new 1366 chips out there.

the multiplier looks good but id much prefer an i7 1000 series 32nm sounds much better than that

The 920 overclocks too well to consider anything else in the i7 range in my opinion, especially in terms of price/performance and this edition isn't really any different. Untill 32nm comes out showing higher overclocks than my rock solid 4GHz i wont be buying.

With this being a 45nm part, I personally don't see it as being an upgrade option from a 920.

I saw benches for this chip on XS quite a while back, and it is basically a D0 stepping i965 but with a locked multiplier.

There is talk of an i7 930 floating around, and if it ends up being a 32nm part, I can see this being the upgrade route that current 920 owners will take..

Based on the Intel processor graph itself, it looks like I7 930 is still a long way off, maybe, not until after Q2'09 and the only advantage it might have over the I7 920 would be lower TDP, higher stock speed and not much else, but, it could be a good option for anyone dipping into the I7 9xx series.

If the 930 ends up using 32nm fab process, wont this mean it should be better for overclocking than the 920?

That's what I thought anyway, if it does prove to be a decent chip for overclocking, then that reason alone will be enough for people to buy one.

i cant see the point in 'upgrading' a 920 to a 930, 940, 950, 960, 965 or a 975

my 920 clocks and works exactly the same as all of the above without the obvious advantage of a bigger/unlocked multi

the only real upgrade for the 1366 socket is going to be gulftown
