Hey guys,

Its that time again for me to upgrade. Currently im running a intel i5 6600k with I think Asus z170 pro gaming board. Im looking at upgrading the cpu n board for now. Ive got a 1080 strix 8gb but one of the more expensive ones at time bought. Think it has a boost of 2088mhz. Is the i7 compaitible with the board I already own or will I need to buy a new one? I bought a new case a phanteks enthoo x I think its called a few months back and its been waiting for this upgrade ever since. So do I need a new board?and is this cpu a gd choice? I think id probably buy a new board anyway cus dont really fancy taking it out of my current case to install in my new one. Any suggestions on board? You guys are great, thanks
 
I use my pc solely for gaming, some video watching but thats it. Ive always had intel apart from a couple of times in the past and it put me off AMD for good so intel is a must for me. So youre saying I need a z390, does this look good enough?

I have the usual 16gb ddr with 2 x ssds n one nvme totalling 1gb in all
My graphics card is a strix 1080 so matches the board.
btw I game on a 2k 32inch curved Samsung monitor
