Posting this on behalf of a mate who is currently PC-less, mid-build.

Main components are...

Asus Rampage II Extreme Intel X58 motherboard
Intel Core i7 920 CPU
6GB of Corsair DDR3-1600 (TR3X6G1600C8D - 3x2GB kit)

Corsair list the memory as being compatible.

RAM Voltage is set to 1.65v
BIOS is version 1001, the latest release from Asus.

As the manual says, he has the 3 sticks in the blue slots but the BIOS is only see 4GB RAM rather than the 6GB installed.

With only 1 stick in slot 1 it won't even POST.
With a stick in slot 1 and slot 2, it boots and the BIOS sees 2 GB rather than 4GB.
Moving the sticks around makes no difference.

For completeness, have run MEMTEST on all 3 sticks with no errors.

To me it sounds like slot 1 is dead but before just shipping it back, any suggestions as to anything else to check out?

Any help appreciated!

Theres a setting in bios called memory mapping or sumthing similar on asus boards that you need to enable for it to see more then 4GB sticks if i remember.

I had a similar problem with 4gig showing in bios instead of 6gig.When i checked the 1366 socket one of the pins was slightly bent (bottom of socket ,2 across right hand side).Bent/aligned the pin back to postion. After i did this the bios reported 6gig.

I am not saying this is your problem but it could be worth checking the pins to see if any are out of line and not making contact with the base of the cpu.
