i7 build with 9800gtx?

Hi all,

I'm putting together an i7 920 build (first time build too, so wish me luck!). However, Im on a very tight budget and wanted to know whether I can get away with just using a 9800GTX GPU for now. Not sure if there will be bottlenecking issues or not? (I do plan to upgrade the GPU later on in the year when I have the money).

So would be grateful for any information on the matter.

I could have gone with a Q6600 build and a decent GPU, but my line of thinking is that I want the new 1366 socket so it's more future proof.

A Bottleneck is guarenteed. I have friend who's GTX 280 is bottlenecking his i7! They are just so frighteningly powerful. Although should be fine if your just using the card to get your desktop on screen...

Thanks for the quick response, although im amazed that even the GTX280 acts as a bottleneck!

But yes, all I want at this stage is something fairly decent on screen, Im not looking for extreme FPS just yet.

I mean I would like to run a game or two, but appreciate that I may not be able to do so at full res or with full settings for example.

As I said in my original post, getting the latest socket for me is the all important factor over and above anything else.
