u can also use the thermal paste that comes with that cpu cooler. its just as good if not better

Sorry ihit the wrong button.

I'm after a new i7 setup and was wondering if this spec is all ideally compatible and am i missing anything , leads etc.

I have not chosen a PSU yet i was hoping for your opinions on something modular Many thanks

looks nice,

why external blu ray drive? just get a cheaper internal blu ray for less than £100 - do you really want HD-dvd?

may want to get a sapphire 4870 512mb which is much cheaper or get a gtx 260 or a 4870 1gb at that price

you don't really need the artic silver, the noctua comes with quality thermal compound

Oh yeah. Blu ray drive will need to be internal. I have just got the Sony TG3E HD camcorder and would like to use it to its full capabilities on the new pc

I've changed the GPU for one with more memory, removed the paste, changed the Blu ray writer. Need a PSU.

How about cables, bracketry etc?

cables will come with mbo. case will come with all fixings u need
get a corsair modular psu i hear there pretty good u will need min 520w i think

mobo and PSU will come with all the cables, CPU cooler with brackets, so you won't need any cables or brackets to buy.

many quality brands for PSU like Bequiet, Corsair, Enermax, PC P&C, Seasonic or Zalman. 500w-600w range should be enough for that spec, but if you want to add a second GFX card in future you may wish to get +700w. then you need to decide modular or non modular, guess price will determine your choice then

SSD are nice but still pricey and you dont get much storage on them, i will wait till prices become more affordable and capacity is increased

the asus p6 is a good mobo and seems to overclock well, i wouldn't even bother with the palm edition. the rampage may be better at OC but price is too high, I would rather get a gigabyte extreme for OC for a lot less

PS personally if i was building a i7 I would either get a regular P6 or gigabyte UD5
