hello there all

im just about to get rid of my corsair h50 cpu cooler and was looking for some info on the best cpu cooler to get whats got the best temps, would defo like something not so loud,, time to start clocking my baby, got a coolermaster haf case, I7 920,any help would be appreciated

These are the top coolers at the moment. The Noctua DH14 is very good and also the only one that comes with fans. I am doing an i5 build and went for the Cogage and will be using a spare 38mm Yate loon that I have.

i am thinking about changing my h50 not so quiet. getting about 28C cpu temp in everest on idle. i setup the push pull set up today but went back dont think the fans i have are good enough ,and it was noisy aswell, im in 2 minds what to do lol. want to start clocking my 920 been on stock since i bought it october , thanks for the replys guys

With the TRUE black (lapped) and 2 x arctic F12 pwm fans, im hitting 76-71-70-69 under LinX load at 4ghz, idles in the mid 30's

TRUE black push/pull

The corsair H50 is generally on a par with high end air cooling, if noise is a problem, id suggest a pair of PWM fans. Theese will ramp up and down according to cpu temp, only hitting full speed once a set temperature threshold is reached

just doing a stress test now got 49C cpu on max settings that on stock 2.66, just learning overclocking going 1 step at a time, thanks again guru

Cheers, 49c at stock load is fine, are you using auto vcore. And what motherboard are you using?

The Venomous X is a revamped T.R.U.E. Outperforms it in most reviews too. Stick a couple of Akasa Apache Fans on the Venomous X and you're good to go!:)

In that case your temps look great and you have a lot of headroom. TBH the h50 is fine and I wouldn't bother changing it if I already had it. If the noise is getting to you then try some different fans. A good 38mm fan would be ideal if you can fit it.

Yep, heard good things about the venomous x, the old TRUE is a good cooler, but once you lap it it improves by a lot more, done mine to 2000 grade grit, knocked 10c of load temps on the q6600 that i bought it for.

still cant decide changing cases in the next week so its decision time thank you all for your info and help

regards john

Venomous X is my 2 pennys worth. It also has the added benefit that is doesnt cover any of the ram slots on the Rampage 2. I have both of these pieces of kit and they work very well together for overclocking a i7 920
My stress temps on my 3.2ghz OC with just a single noctua 120mm fan strapped onto the VX is mid 50's.
Fantastic cooler without the drawbacks of the larger models on the market.
