As far as I know this chip is clocked at 4Ghz with a turbo of 4.4Ghz

Is it worth overclocking it to 4.6Ghz? Doesn't seem much more of a gain to me?

Might as well leave it at stock for such a puny gain.

Thoughts guys and correct me if I am wrong?

if you already have the cooling why not?

if it's stock speed with stock cooler then no it's not worth it

You are not getting much more out of it than stock speeds though.

As far as I know by looking at reviews the chip will only overclock to 4.6Ghz

Is it worth overclocking for the minimum that you will get?

Although a slightly different chip I have two 4770k. One is in my gaming PC and clocked at 4.4Ghz and is coupled with 8GB 1866 and a 250GB Evo SSD. The other is in my HTPC clocked at 4.0Ghz and is coupled with 16GB 2400 and a 120GB Evo SSD. For normal use they are identical, both are lightning quick. In benchmarks the gaming PC is slightly quicker but this only shows in benchmarks, in games and general use you can't tell the difference. If you have an aftermarket cooler then go for it but don't expect anything outside of benchmarks.

Disappointed with Devil's Canyon myself. Just my opinion.

a stock clocked 4790k beats my 3770k @ 4.8ghz

just depends i suppose,if you get a coolish running/low voltage chip you could eek out a few more MHz but personally id be happy at stock

It all depends on what you want? As far as I'm concerned Devil's Canyon was a big disappointment. Intel were talking about 5Ghz and over on air.

Intel failed big time. 4.6GHz is all it will do.
