Hey all,

I have a simple question, I have an i7 processor clocked to 3.6ghz, however when i run benchmarks such as the Final Fantasy 14 benchmark and 3dmark06 my cpu never reaches 100% load and usually sits around 2.2ghz.. What can i do to make it so the benchmarks utilize all of my CPU and therefore increase my scores?

Thanks,

Azure

EDIT: Yes i am a complete noob.

you cant as most benchmarks cant make use of all cores fully you will probably get 3 cores at full load at best for gaming type stuff.

for video encoding you are more likely to see 90+ % cpu usage

Ah i see.. I thought it might be something to do with speedstep? I would have thought a benchmark would have the load higher than around 20% though? I'm starting to think my overclock was a bit pointless then? xD

IBT - Intel Burn Test - 100% core usage. It will give you a benchmark score of sorts.

Super Pi - Will also give you a bench score, non graphics related

Disable speed step in the bios.

That way your CPU will run 3.6ghz when running 3D 06 :)

Random Character selected
High Resolution setting: 1920 x 1080
Score: 2539
Load time: 14833 ms

Random Character selected
Low Resolution setting: 1280 x 720
Score: 4586
Load time: 14597 ms

Thats the scores i get from my rig in my sig, ran the benchmark for a mate earlier, does look like a nice game though going by the graphics.

Thats at 4ghz with HT on, no speedstep, and Asus 5770 at stock settings.

This is what they say about the scores:

[8000 and over] Extremely High Performance
Easily capable of running the game on the highest settings.

[5500–7999] Very High Performance
Easily capable of running the game. Should perform exceptionally well, even at higher resolutions.

[4500-5499] High Performance
Easily capable of running the game. Should perform well, even at higher resolutions.

[3000-4499] Fairly High Performance
Capable of running the game on default settings. Consider switching to a higher resolution depending on performance.

[2500-2999] Standard Performance
Capable of running the game on default settings.

[2000-2499] Slightly Low Performance
Capable of running the game, but may experience some slowdown. Adjust settings to improve performance.

[1500-1999] Low Performance
Capable of running the game, but will experience considerable slowdown. Adjusting settings is unlikely to improve performance.

[Under 1500] Insufficient Performance
Does not meet specifications for running the game
