Hi guys

quick query about a new rig Ive just built including a 2.66GHz i7, Gigabyte X58A UD3R (rev 2) mobo

In the Post the i7 is stated running at 3.36 (170*21), yet Win7 is stating the standard clockspeed - is this normal or have I got to fiddle with W7 somewhere to make it read correctly?

(I have a new set of Ripshaw 12GB sticks which are doing well at the 170 multiplier so far, but need to test them thoroughly before pushing further on air and stock volts)

Many thanks for any assistance

Windows tends to report stock speeds, download CPU-z and double check.

If the multiplier changes don't worry it is Intel Speedstep.

Thanks - it was speedstep causing the "issue"

Do people usually leave this enabled or not?

Ive disabled it for now while Im benchmarking,

(would be nice if the mobo manufacturers actually called it speedstep in the bios lol

cheers - can see the value in using it in a laptop/mobile device but not on the desktop in this situation, will keep it disabled I think
