Evening chaps,

I will apologise in advance if this problem is really simple and I'm missing something :) Just got the bundle from OCUK with the gigabyte board, i7 @ 4ghz, and H50 etc.

Runs great on the OCUK settings, seems all they changed on the voltage side was the core volts and it's all dandy! However, they have it with Turbo on at 21*190 - I however, cannot get into windows at 200*20 with Turbo off and all C1E/performance monitoring off, seemingly regardless of what voltages I change, is there something I'm missing?

I'm changing the QPI voltages - 1.35V, CPU PPL - 1.88, IOH & ICH - 1.2V.

Here is a screenshot of my current setup after about 20mins in prime small FFTs @ OCUK settings, I think my temps are pretty good going?

Memory is also at 9-9-9-28-84-2T @ 760mhZ (2:8 FSB:DRAM)

Am I missing something obvious? I've been into hardware for years and years but haven't really read up enough on the i7 yet to be 100% sure what I'm messing up :)

Any helps is muchly appreciated, and apologies if this is a pain.

Matt.

Thanks for the link Muel - does seem strange!

Bigbruiser, it just made it easier to order and also *sort of* guarantees a nice chip I guess, maybe I'm just dumb :P

He might have wanted to get a chip that was guaranteed to do 4GHz..

There has been a couple of people on here who bought bundles for this very reason.

You shouldn't really need to touch CPU PLL, or the IOH and ICH voltages to get 200x20..

What exactly is happening, is your system giving you a BSOD before it gets to Windows, or is it resetting itself??

You've not been very specific.

Apologies Davy, the PC starts loading to Win7 but then BSODs and reboots before getting to the login screen. Seems really odd as all I'm changing from the OCUK stable settings is the multi/fsb and disabling turbo :confused:

just a reminder, our tech support staff will have a hard time helping you if you are altering bios settings and something goes wrong

Totally understood mate, but seeing as it's not prime stable for an even an hour at the settings it was supplied with, I need to fiddle :)

Update! These are my current settings - passes IBT no problem but Prime conks out on blend within 30mins, temps all < 70°C.

190x200 with TURBO on, 8x/17x multi's, 9-9-9-24-2 timings.

Voltages:

CPU Vcore - 1.3V
QPI - 1.355V
CPU PLL - 1.88V
QPI Pll - 1.14V
IOH Core - 1.13V
Dram - 1.66V

This is with load line enabled.

Also in the bios I have C1e, C3/6/7, EIST, and Virtualization Tech all switched of, which I'm assuming is wrong?!

Just wondering if the CPU needs more volts? I've played hours of Dragons Age: Origins without a crash but then it randomly rebooted in Windows when I was on MSN :) Bit stuck!

Saying that, the voltage under load is dropping to 1.264 (Corsair 650W if it makes any difference) - reckon that could be the problem? Just notch it up another step?

And sorry for all the no doubt....stupid questions! Many thanks to all who are trying to help.

Well I thought I had it all sorted and nice, been playing games all day (took a long weekend off work, iz naiz!) and it passed a 1hr blend test AND 1hr small FFT test in prime.

Then it reboots (no BSOD) when watching some QuakeLive stream, hmmmm? Maybe it's a windows thing, can't think of anything else :(
