I7 question

I believe it is because Speedstep (power saving) is kicking in and reducing the mutliplier to 12, download cpu-z and try loading the processor.

to be more detailed, when your CPU sits idle it cuts the speed to save you money on your bills(only positive way to look at it) when you load a game or program that uses your CPU it will jump up to the speed it should be at.

No loss only gain.

The bios was set to 191*20 = 3.82ghz but Borich bought the 4.0ghz overclocked version not the 3.8. I had to overclock it to 4.0ghz, do overclockers not do this ?

One thing that confused me was when the computer was first turned on it went through 4-5 restarts before booting correctly and then working fine. If i made any changes to the memory i.e removing or adding any it would do this again. Is this normal for an i7 mobo, it's as if it does this to verify the new changes ?

and also the memory says patriot viper but he got corsair

3.8 will be without the turbo, when it would have got load the x21 turbo would kick in to 4.ghz no need to mess with it. Reboots on a UD5 is normal when overlcocked...and memory is prob due to stock

so now I've overclocked it to 20x200 when the turbo kicks in it will hit 21x200 = 4.2 ?
