I currently have a i7 920 (c0) and 6GB of DDR3 lying around.. I'm wondering if I can get a board to suit if these would be suitable for a little HTPC or general use SFF machine in a living room environment?

What cooler and GFX card would be suitable in this sort of build? I'd reduce the clock from 3.6ghz down to 2.66ghz to keep heat down and the machine would be used to view media and browse the web..

Thanks for any replies :)

Edit: I have a Xonar soundcard also :)

You can get mATX boards for 1366 sockets but no one made a mini ITX, too much stuff to cram on the board.

Also a ITX wouldn't take a gfx and soundcard.

ATI 5450 passive @ 27.59 atm should be good enough and won't make any noise.

If you're running underclocked, well any cooler that fits the case would do, stick a low speed quiet fan on it and you're done.

Was thinking about doing that.. I've got the rig in my sig to be dismantled and sold bar the gtx295 which I've sold to a mate for 100 quid and a 8800gt.

Might have to review the situation first..

What is the best CPU and board combo if all I'm doing is browsing the net and watching 1080p films?

I'm guessing windows 7 HP is ok for an OS too?

Cheers :)
