Just moved from i5 2500k to i7 2700k - both clocked @ 4.2 (same motherboard).

Noticed that:-

1. Msi P67A board now reports wrong temp. as compared to speedfan/cretemp/real temp - about 10c higher - Normal ? Bios Update needed ? ( BTW the board does recognise the cpu correctly)

2. Temps are running about 5/6 c hotter than the i5 which I think may be normal but if anyone can confirm or reject my belief it would be much appreciated.

3. Core 0 currently ticking over @ 34c
Core 1 @35c
Core 2 @ 36c
Core 3 @ 39c
A larger spread than the i5 - unusual? / usual?

You cant really compare temps to different cpus as they will all read differently, full load temps are the ones to really look out for.

But, you idle temps look fine though :)

Should have mentioned load (quick run of IBT freeze) is about 6c more than the i5 - glad to hear temps are good although I have decided to re-seat the cpu cooler as not happy that fit/spread is good enough.

Which of CPU-Z / Real Temp / Core temp would you trust to show correct readings ref.
Core speed - currently 1600/between 1850 & 3093/4190
Core voltage - currently 0.992/?/1.2660
Multiplier - currently 16/variable/sticks @42

Why on earth are they so different? They all read the same (possibly excepting the core temp frequency which might have shown , as I think it may do now, the fastest it is programmed to go), if memory serves correctly , with the i5

Realtemp/Coretemp are basically the same thing with a different layout and each one showing a little bit of info the other doesn't. They should give the same result (maybe a degree out) if their set right, if your running both and getting wildly different results the Tjmax max be set wrong on one of them.
