Basically ima be setting up my first quad core rig and i wanna know what the best way to apply my MX-2? Will be using a noctua cooler. In teh past iv used a credit card and made a thin layer to totally cover the CPU but this was with dual cores and iv head about a "line technique"?

Thanks sammy. :D

NOTE: The Core i7. Please use the quad core instructions at left with one modification: If you orient the CORE i7 chip where the triangle marker is up and to the left it will put the cores on a horizontal plane. With the cores (quad) being on a horizontal plane you will apply a horizontal line of thermal compound as depicted in our quad core instructions and the picture above.

Edit: I know this is for AS5 but this is the way ive got best results with builds ive done.

I found out by trial and error that using the "Blob" method worked best for me.

When I installed my Noctua NH-U12P SE1366 I tried the cc method, the line method, but got the best results by basically doing what was reccommended by Noctua, and that was by placing a pea sized "Blob" (4-5mm) in the centre of the cpu.

That was using their own paste though, which I must say is pretty good. I now have idle temps of 34/37.
