I7 TRUE fan comparison.

Decided today to experiment with a few different push/pull fan setups on my TRUE black on my i7 920. Been running sharkoon silent eagle se fans for the past while. Theese are 400-1200 rpm pwm models (nice and quiet). I also have a pair of the 2000 rpm 3 pin standard silent eagles, switched out the pwm versions for theese.

As you can see, i stopped linX after a few minutes as temps had stabilised. Not the most signifigant of temp drops for an increase of 800 rpm in fan speeds, plus the penalty of a bit more noise.

I just reinstalled my fan controller in my new case to help reduce the noise - ran some OCCT to see what temp differences I get from cutting the rpm in half and it was surprisingly little (10-15C). A lot nicer on the ears though.

I was considering putting the 2000 rpm fans on an akasa junior fan controller, theyre actualy not to loud when dialled down. Though i did expect a wee bit higher temp drop compared to the pwm fans, both sets of fans are identical in shape/design, only difference being the speeds.

Try to run longer tests or use Prime95, the main trouble with LinX is it stop/starts a lot relieving stress on the processor and 2-3mins per test isn't very long.

Yep, i know what you mean about linX, ive run p95 small fft on the pwm setup and temps were a bit lower than what linX/IBT generate.

Quick p95 load shot from a few weeks ago.

Albeit that was again only a few minutes when the room was pretty cold. Ill give p95 a blast with the currently installed 2000's to see how it fares. Thanks for the advice mmj

EDIT: Pneumonic, i remember watching the videos of your delta setup, awesome stuff. 3.8ghz was the best i ever managed from my q6600 using theese same sharky 2000's. 68-68-62-62, 1.51v, lapped cpu and TRUE black.

P95 SE 2000's

Not as low as a few weeks ago with the pwm setup (iirc i had the windows open then on a cold night). Still though, a few degrees lower than LinX. If i can source a good fan controler for all 6 installed fans, i may keep theese 2000,s on the cooler.
