Could sum1 tell me if its worth me upgrading to an i7....

My current build is a q6600, 4GB ddr2 1066 RAM, 8800GTX.

Shall i just up grade my gfx rather than spend £500+ on an i7 build.... will i really get that much of a preformance boost from q6600 to an I7?

What clockspeed are you running at? I would upgrade your graphics card without a doubt, even the 260 GTX core 216 is nearly twice as fast as a 8800 GTX. You could always use your new graphics card in an i7 rig later, nothing lost.

Oh gfx is number 1 priority.

Im gona be using it for gaming, BF:BC2 mainly! Just not sure wether an I7 is going to make a massive difference or should i just pile my money into a good GFX card.... just worried about bottle necking.

EDIT: running at clock speed atm, took it up to 3.2GHz, but because of the low spec games i play i just dropped em down to retail speed speed.

The i7 is a fast chip, but unless you are doing encoding or very high res gaming i would stick a decent cooler on the quad and ramp up the speed.

real world the difference is minimal, unless you need everything to max i would wait for the dx11 cards.

Yeah that was my other problem, do i wait for dx11 card or buy 295 or 5870.... sod it BFBC2 aint out until March earliest!

Just buy a nice new case and v8 cooler and clock the shidizzle out of it ;)

Thanks for the help guys!

Get a 5850 or 5870 if you wanna pay the premium and don't mind waiting and overclock the CPU to 3-3.2Ghz and jobs a gooden for a year or so at least. Whatever you do do not buy anything by Nvidia at the moment it is all inferior and overpriced compared to ATI's offerings.
