i7 Water Cooling Temp Issues?

Hi Guys,

I have two loops within my TJ07 and have had a roof mod to allow the installation of a tripe slim rad. The triple rad is currently connected to the Core i7 but the temps I have seem very high.

On idle on a hot day like today I have idle temps of 60 degrees, I have overclocked the processor to 3.2 from 2.4 with no increase in Vcore.

Before I bought my two 580GTX - I had my cpu connected to a quad rad and the temps were fine, I connected the two 580 GTX cards to the quad rad as I thought the triple rad would be more than adequate to keep the processor cool but it would appear not.

Any suggestions guys, as I used to run the processor at 4.2 on the quad rad :-(

triple rad should really be enough. Have you gotten rid of all the dust on the rad?

This may seem stupid, but the fans on the rad are turning on and working properly?

It's a fairly new install so I know dust is not an issue :-/

Rads have been checked and all three fans are working, I think the same not sure why the temps are so high?

Diffcult for me to determine whether its getting enough power, I assume so I am running a a 1200w supply and have a Laing D5 Vario Pump running on max setting (5)!

And yeah it's running :-)

Yeah I thought the same thing, it is a slim rad and not a normal width one, but I am still annoyed it's so high, perhaps I'll swap the fans over whilst I am at it.

The rad I got is MagiCool SLIM TRIPLE 360 Radiator, perhaps it's pants? The 3 fans are I am using are Akasa 120mm Apache.P

Perhaps these are the issue?

More like an air blockage, a triple rad, be it slim or not will cool an i7, you say you have two loops, do you have two D5's? how is your loop setup?

The other pump cooling the GTX's is Laing DDC-Pump 12V DDC-1T (Swiftech MCP350) - the system has been running for a few months and due to the nature of the set-up the Rad is slightly higher than the res, could that be the issue you think?

If so how can I sort this?

Thanks for the help guys!

Using any dye? it could be the cpu block is blocked, pump not broken?

A few things to check, definatly an issue somewhere.

Yeah I am using dye, the pump seems to be working fine, I wonder whether the fans could be improved, I will start the troubleshooting next week and try and determine what the dman issue is :-/

some dye's are known to seperate and can block the cpu block up pretty bad and lead to hight temps, what make of dye?, pretty sure they all seperate though.

Hi, have a look at Thermochill EC6 Clear, its been in my loop nearly a year just as good as new, no disscolouring at all. It lasts 2 years them a change is due, if you want colour you should have used colour tubing, far safer. :)

just a suggestion, how about turning the pump down a bit,it might be that the water is flowing to fast through the rad to cool it.

try turning it down to 3 and then check the temp.

just a thought guys :)

Sounds like a bad cpu block mount really i would re do it again and make sure your thermal paste is evenly spread, not too thick and there is good contact.

As above + you could stll have air trapped in the Rad, when you have re-mounted your CPU, put something under the side of the PC to tilt the tube side of the Rad up and leave it while your using your PC for a couple of days this will help get the any air out the Rad its worth a try.
