i7 - Which should I go for?

I am probably going to get shot lol, but I would not buy The Asus P8P67 Pro, reding around there are issues and I had one for 4 days, worked perfectly, shutdown, booted the following day, dead board:-(

Imo go with the MSI P67A-GD65, my other system has one of these and it has been rock solid.

The ram you have picked has a high fin assembly , so make sure any cooler choices don't go over the ram slots. Also the onboard sound on the boards is actually pretty good and not a million miles away from the DG.

Nice looking spec there though mate.

The case you picked is (by reviews) very tight fit for everything keep this in mind as messy cable managment = low airflow and heat

Look at the Coolermaster HAF cases

I have the HAF X case they are really good cases but a lot more expensive than the one you picked

My mate has the haf 922 and he fitted two GPUs a 360 xspc rad cooling and loads of other things (cant remember the makes and models)

In other words massive amount of room and at £80 you cant go wrong

Also excellant cable managment system
all cables are hidden behind the mobo tray etc

And as liquid pointed out again remember to make sure you have space for the cpu cooler to fit withought disturbing the ram placment

id go for gigabyte ud4 m8 theres been a lot of probs with the asus boards and if you can stretch the haf cases or a cm690 is cheeper than the hafs but is a very good case

I thought that the CM Storm had decent cable management. So what other coses would you recommend? Besides the hafX or 922?

You won't have any issues with the scout space wise and there is cable management, built a dozen systems with that case and it will be fine. My suggestion would be the cm690 II advanced case, but then I find the hard drive dock at the top very handy, but I can appreciate it's a personal choice.

Scout vid here, but it does not have a removable motherboard tray lol, this guy has reviews for all cases, so have a look at others as well.

The CM690 Advanced looks pretty sweet. It is certainly a contender in the lineup of cases I can choose instead. As for the mobo recommendation, That info taken on board and I'll definately get it, as the board that I was going to get with the i7 950 before deciding to go i5 2500k, was the UD3R from Gigabyte.

I can't wait, just a shame I have to wait 8 weeks. Got a bonus coming soon and most likely will be end of may when it gets paid provided the paperwork for it hits the pay office in time.

i5 2500k for sure. I am using a super cheapo cooler (CM Hyper 212+) and have mine clocked at 4.5GHz with temps in the low-mid 50s full load.
