So last Thursday i finally took the plunge and splashed out on a nice little upgrade! Coming from an AMD 64 4000+ single core cpu, 2gb ddr ram and a Geforce 8800 GT this was a huge step up in performance and i couldn't be happier!
Spec is as follows:
Intel Core i7 920 D0
Asus P6T Deluxe V2
Corsair Dominator 6GB DDR3
Asus GeForce GTX 285 1024MB
Creative X-Fi Titanium
Edimax EW-7728IN Wireless PCI Adapter
2x 80GB Seagate in Raid0
3x 1TB Samsung Spinpoint F1
Corsair 650W TX Series PSU
Silverstone Fortress FT01B-W
Thermalright True Black 120
2x Sharkoon 1000 120mm fans
Samsung SM2433BW 24" Widescreen LCD Monitor
I really enjoyed building it, it was not my first but its always fun! Had no problems apart from the Netgear WG311 wireless card i took from my old rig was not compatible with Windows Vista Ultimate 64bit
so i was without the internet for 2 days while waiting for delivery of the Edimax EW-7728IN which works perfectly.
As for overclocking, i don't really know how lol. I have a basic idea of what to do and maybe i'll give it a go sometime but i'm more than impressed with the stock speeds anyway. Blasphamy i know
lol
I didn't take any pics of the cable management at the back because i'm ashamed haha! I did try to tame the beast, but the beast fought back
and with 5 hard drives it was cramped down there! I might mod and sleeve the cables to fit perfect in future.
Anyway, the porn!
