You keep looking from Intel defense.

If it was up to me I wouldn't mind to see testing with Intel platform having memory setup @4000 because they can, while AMD at 2933/3200 whatever works. But if the guy is not using memory's xmp profile then it is crippling the results. GN (even though I don't like the guy) he was right to ask him why. If they didn't have stable ram they should've used lower speed or different memory and not manually setup just one thing and claim it's ok.

He did use the XMP profile on both AMD and intel. He simply downclocked to the speeds supported by each platform but using XMP timings, but AMD was at the higher clock as AMD support higher speeds.

So same timings both platforms but AMD higher clocks.

GN still havent replied, so I will assume they lied out their backside when they claimed in their last reply that they didnt tune the timings.

So to verify.

1 - GN didnt originally disclose they had to manually tune secondary and tertiary timings to hit the clock speeds they did in their ryzen2 review.
2 - GN told PT in the PT interview, they had to manually tune secondary and tertiary timings on the AMD review.
3 - I called GN out on this, they didnt originally reply, but after I prodded them 3 times, they replied that they did not do the manual tuning.
4 - I replied back saying can you clarify why you told PT in the interview you did have to manually tune the ram.
5 - They have yet to reply back to my request for clarification.

The PT ram configuration favoured AMD, and in particular threadripper as the 4 dimm config allowed threadripper to run in quad channel mode. I expect if e.g. the ram was pushed to say 3200mhz dual dimm config, intel would get more favoured results, as it would be a 600mhz boost vs a 300 mhz boost on AMD and threadripper would go from quad to dual channel. This was fine with me, as AMD officially support better RAM speeds and quad channel, so the favourable config is fair.

ha lol £360 and its still to much lol still on 5830k at 5 ghz lol. would coust me for new pc lol about £10.000 wil waite fof RTX IN THE NEXT 20 YEARS HEHEHEEEHHE

Why is this not a thing?!:D

This isn't an annual thing, because it actually happens loads of times during the course of a year. I take it that you have never done any competitive benchmarking then ?
It's always good fun, i know, done it loads of times. But it is never the case that the best guy always wins, because like in the real world, it's down to hardware and the silicon lottery. In most competitions, you are using what the sponsor supplies................not your own cherry picked stock. So at any one competition 8Pack or der8auer could come out on top as i'm shure 8 Pack will deny and say he wipes the floor with der8auer :D

A short vid of a bit of competitive benching a few years ago :D

All preorderes cancelled and removed from sale after complains it poped up with +$160 higher price.
Seems like everyone is trying to get their pound of flesh from the consumers now.. Smaller outfits can use the "excuse" we keep hearing but I imagine rainforest gets them way below market value and even they are trying it on now.

Tbh the consumers should vote with their wallets and buy AMD. But they wont, and they will stick buying overprised CPUs.
See whats happening in this very forum. Look at the defence over the 9700K £500 pricetag over suggestions for 2700X+mobo for less!!!!

See the Intel pricing of their HEDT CPUs, completely ignoring the TR4 CPUs actually exist.

As I've mentioned I've always been an Intel chap but "only" for the fact getting a 2700x rig wouldn't be much of an upgrade over the kit I already have is the only reason I haven;t bought an AMD setup this time. Imagine If only people got to together this stuff would be over in weeks... as I said I had a grand to spend but I haven't bothered this time I'll go spend it on something else.

at least he's not a intel or a amd fanboy, so his reviews are honest and not doctored, or what ever you call it.

Unfortunately he is an ASUS pocket boy, very scared to say anything bad about them. But to be fair he did call ASUS on the price of their 2080Ti and he somehow could not get a top spec ASUS motherboard for his new cpu review intime.

But you cant blame these reviewers, they are held hostage by the big companies.

There is a guy out there that does some amazing TV reviews as he is a professional calibrator. As far i know he still has not one company sending him their TV for reviews because he will say it like it is. He has few of these online retailers sending him sets and that's it but I have seen so many of these idiot noobs being sent all manner of TV sets by the big companies and they have no clue what they are doing.

Just cant trust any reviews on youtube to be honest, there are on or two gems out there but the rest are well, lets be kind here, rubbish.

Game mode was used with threadripper though, which drops the ram down to dual channel mode.

£468 is not overpriced though, is it ? £600+ is, but not £468.

Tend to agree with that. There's always a mad rush to get reviews/benchmarks out there ASAP as soon as something is released, or NDA lifted. I think under close examination there would be various flaws in the techniques uses, corners cut to save time etc.Everyone wants the clicks so it's all a mad rush job to get reviews/benches out there ASAP, as if every single buyer will buy on day 1 of release.
