I9 vs Xeon?

Ok so soon I will need to change my cpu motherboard and RAMs.

I need a very powerful cpu for some very detailed renders.

My budget for the cpu is about £1500.

Is Xeon still the way to go or should I wait and get a i9?
I heard the i9 is very good at processing how do they compare?

I think threadripper might be the way to go. Intel have an 18 core i9 but I think thats 2k IIRC.

Given the budget limit, powerful Xeon CPUs are beyond your reach. For multi-thread performance, you might consider the following near your budget limit:

AMD Epyc 7401
Intel Core i9-7960X
AMD Ryzen Threadripper 1950X
Intel Core i9-7940X

For single-thread performance, wait for Intel Core i7-8700K.

Nobody can actually give you an real accurate answer, unless you tell us what operating system you are on, and what software you are running, and how well that scales with cores/threads vs. pure clock speed. It would also be a great idea to tell us what you have now, and if any of your work flow can take advantage of GPU compute. Saying I have £1500 for a CPU, is too vague and you'll end up with bad/incorrect advice.
