recently, i've gotten to the point where i feel my driving is as good as it's going to get on my own, i made a real effort to turn around after an accident 18 months ago, but i think perhaps to get any better is going to take proper guidance.

so, those of you who've done IAM (or anything similar) how did you find it - are you happy you're a better driver now?

i fully expect to get at least a couple of responses from the world's greatest drivers who've never done anything of the sort knocking it - but ask yourself who's safer... the person who thinks themself infallible, or the person who recognises their humanity and wishes to improve themselves....

I did IAM only a few months after passing my test. Instantly improved my driving though, which I feel has carried on with me since doing it. It was only £70 and a few hours of your life so I suggest you do it.

I bought the IAMs 'Skill for Life' package a few weeks ago. At the moment I'm waiting to be allocated an observer/trainer by my local IAM group, they do it 1 to 1 so I have to wait for one of the current n00bs to finish.

It cost £85 which includes membership for a year, an assessment by an observer, training by local group, and the test. Also you get an advanced driving book, and a monthly IAM magazine.

All looks quite interesting so far, though I can't yet comment on the training side of it all.
