Have been looking at this recently since i spend all day driving and have developed a few sloppy habits. Thought it would be good to get some input from advanced drivers.

Had a look on the IAM site, the local Wigan one looks to be run by the "older" generation.

Just wondering if ill be frowned upon turning up in a non standard car and being young. Doing it in Preston (be fine as i lived there) or Bolton would be fine too.

Nope, but you do need to get use to speaking through your nose with a whine, women who look like men, beards and pipe smokers. :D

I went to a meeting a few years ago in Bournemouth with the intention of joining. It was terrible. A bunch of geriatrics who all sounded like John Major when they spoke (ladies too). Pedantic and smug anoraks of the highest order. I was not made to feel welcome.

I also find it ironic that cars adorned with an IAM sticker in the rear window usually display some rather epic feats of driving failure, especially when piloted by one of the veteran elderly members.
