I just saw this news. It's one of those deaths that feels like it's the ending of an era.

If anyone likes Dads Army I recommend watching all the series back to back as it made me feel like I was an observational off screen member of the home guard. Though the final episode was emotional.

If you don't mind listening to an audio series the sequel to Dad's Army is It Sticks Out Half a Mile. Ian Lavender reprised his role as Pike again as the group decided to restore a pier just up the road from the fictional place where Dad's Army was set. Episodes are on YouTube.
