dont know whether Im worrying over nothing or not so hoping someone might help me out

I bought a Gigabyte X58A UD3R recently and its working well but I hadnt realised the PCIE *8 slots are paired with the PCIE*16 slots

I already scrapped one board that I had as the PCIE *4 slot was in the middle of the *16 slots (so no use with double header graphics cards) and now I find the channels are paired grrrrrr

Am I worrying over nothing that my SSD IBIS drive is sharing the channel with the crossfired cards?

Do crossfire cards use both PCIE lanes for data- or due to the bridge, is it just the primary card's PCIE slot that transfer the data?

Any help would be really appreciated

A x16 PCi-e lane transfers 8GB/sec of data.
A x8 PCi-e lane transfers 4GB/sec of data.

So I doubt that you will be able to come close to maxing out any of the lanes. All is good mate.

cheers for that

would still be interesting to know if both PCIE lanes are used in crossfire, or just the one for the primary card

Im presuming the resolution you game at is the primary multiplier for finding how much data is transferred a second along the channel - Im now using a dell 3011 with a res of 2560*1600 (hence the crossfire setup in the first place)

The resolution will have heaps to do with the total work the cards do. That would will increase some of the data capacity that is transported along the lanes. BUT nowhere near enough to be a noticeable issue.

If you look in your hand book I am pretty sure there is a schematic there showing the lanes that are used.

Short answer I think you will be all good.
