I got 2 of these and need some help

Can I run 7 WD20EARX and 1 SSD off each card as a single RAID per card and use the SSD as cache?

If so how?
SSD Cache suggestion size?

Cheers

The M1015 (LSI 9211 / 9240) does not have the Cachecade function so without some software intevention, no.

You could setup a ZFS pool using a OS that supports it and then use a SSD as a ZIl (write) or L2ARC (read) cache.

I was going to go all nice and simple with an SSD for OS and OS being Windows 7 Pro so I got admin tools.

I might have too rethink it all then bugga

Give this a checkout for another option but I would be surprised if they cache the M1015 rather than only caching the motherboard ports. I have never tried either though so cannot say for sure.

RB you legend. I've made an error as gotten wrong SAS cables so my setup doesn't work. New ones on order and will try this soon as they arrive and let you know
