iBook G4 Logic Board?

My friend's iBook G4 keeps randomly turning off and will not turn on again for a while. She took it into a shop and they told her that the laptop is worth around £300 and that she would need a new logic board that costs around £600 - is this all true?

I've heard the logic boards were a bit of a problem in the earlier iBook G4s. £600 though? Forget it. For £600 you could practically buy a MacBook.

Are they offering £300 for the broken iBook? If so I'd get snap their hand off you won't get a better offer than that.

You will be lucky to get £300 for one, if so take it. I buy them and fix them all the time.
I send them off to the states to get fixed though.
