hi guys, is there such a thing as a usb wireless adapter for my ibook g4, all i seem to see around the shops are the adapters that go inside the laptop.

If so can anyone reccomened a particular one? it's to hook up with a bt voyager 2091 router if that helps at all.

I have an asus 167g which seems to work pretty well, cant tell you where i got it but a froogle should find one. Cost 20 quid

whats wrong with buying the apple aircard, is a little pricey but works extremely well (and its very easy to install)

I would get the Airport card if you could get one for less than 100 quid these days, but I have a g3 ibook.

If I had the G4 I would definitely go for the airport extreme card. Its only 50 quid aint it?

Most USB wireless dongles will be fine on Mac OSX, probably cost you around £20. :)

No they won't, at least not in my experience. There are very few ones that actually work properly with OSX, especially 802.11g ones.

The ones I have used have worked.

Either way, a USB dongle is a cheaper way of giving your mac wireless capability than purchasing an airport card. However, it's not likely to be as good.

I'll have to find out - I had to get one for a friend who's Airport card went kaput a few months ago. :o
