IC Diamond Periphelion Ceramic Thermal Compound Mini Review
Well I got my freebie from OCUK, so I feel obliged to give you all a mini review.
Test System Specs
The system
AMD Phenom II 955 (4 GHz @ 1.45v)
4 GB Geil Value DDR3 1333MHz
Asus M4A785TD-V Evo
Nvidia 8800GT (Akasa Vortexx Neo)
Antec 300
Watercooling
XSPC Dual bay pump reservoir combo
XSPC Delta V3 water block
XSPC RS120 Radiator
Ek Coolstream XT240 Radiator
3xXilence Redwing on radiators (120mm)
Akasa Junior Fan controller
Testing and Methodology
I will be testing the IC Diamond Periphelion against Akaka’s AK-455 TIM.
For testing load temperatures the CPU will be loaded with Prime95 (Large FFT) and the GPU with the Folding@home client for 30 mins, I will note the max temperature. Allow the system to idle for 30 mins then repeat twice to ensure accuracy and take and average, idle temps will also be noted at the end of each 30 min cooling period.
The fans will be turned down to their minimum RPM and the tests repeated. The IC Periphelion was also give a 2 hours of curing time as the AK-455 had been applied around a month ago on the test system.
Results
GPU
CPU
Conclusion
IC Diamond Periphelion is a great budget performer beating the Akasa Ak-455 by a good margin in both tests. The paste can be a little difficult to get out of the tube due to its high viscosity. IC Periphelion is certainly the king of budget pastes.
