iCal and Googlemail Calendar sync?

Is it possible to sync iCal TO Google Calendar?
I know there are syncing options, but as far as I can see it relies on setting up a new calendar first within Google that is then visible in iCal.

What I want to do is sync my existing iCal to the Google Calendar, otherwise I will have to enter all the dates again!

If it is relevant I currently use MobileMe but want to try out using Google instead for all mail and calendar syncing.

A quick Google should help you. I've done Google Calendar to iCal but not vica versa but I'm sure it is possible.
