Ice Bucket Challenge

ALS or whoever they are have raked in $$$$££££ so it would be much more worth while donating to a charity that actually helps people where it's needed. Macmillan, Marie curie, hospice charities etc.

I have always prefered to donate to charities that actually help people in the real world rather than these big corporate capitalists charities that waste so much money.

I assume you're trolling or just don't know anything about any of these charities, but just so you know, Macmillan has a 73% charitable spend compared to the MNDA's 80%.

I don't get this at all. Just seems to be the Big Brother crowd doing it.

I donate and raise money for several charities. In fact I donate to charity every time I go to the shop! If i get change from a note or from a pound etc I ask them to put it in the charity tin on the till.

Also cold and water affects my injuries so it's really not worth the pain...

Some of you guys need to lighten up. It's a laugh and creating awareness for whatever your chosen charity is. I did my challenge last night and donated to the Great North Air Ambulance. I could have just gave money to the charity but where's the fun in that?

Also nominated Janesy B

Get cracking lad!

Oh and I don't watch Big Brother or Jeremy Kyle or any of that crap ;)

I'm quite the opposite. I'm quite happy in my own company and never post on social media, but I was nominated, it's a giggle, while helping charity too - a bit like Movember.

It doesn't mean I'm suddenly going to spam my way onto people's feeds.

lol, it's far from the big brother crowd, in fact it's the complete opposite, every man and his dog is doing it, from all walks if life, most of which have never done such internet fads before.

I'm sick to death of it.

Raising money for a worthy cause? Great.
Dumping ice on your head to look popular on social media sites? Pathetic.

The majority of people aren't giving details of how to donate or donated themselves which is the whole point of doing this. It's turned into a popularity contest and I'll have no part of it.

Well said.

Cretins need to realise that Facebook "Likes" do not translate into money for charity.

So just found out only 27% of the money raised goes towards research into a cure.

So wheres the rest of the money going? Whos pockets are being lined here?

Here are the salaries for the leadership of the group

Jane H. Gilbert – President and CEO – $339,475.00
Daniel M. Reznikov – Chief Financial Officer – $201,260.00
Steve Gibson – Chief Public Policy Officer – $182,862.00
Kimberly Maginnis - Chief of Care Services Officer – $160,646.00
Lance Slaughter - Chief Chapter Relations and Development Officer – $152,692.00

Michelle Keegan – Chief Development Officer – $178,744.00
John Applegate – Association Finance Officer – $118.726.00
David Moses – Director of Planned Giving – $112,509.00
Carrie Munk – Chief Communications and Marketing Officer – $142,875.00
Patrick Wildman – Director of Public Policy – $112,358.00
Kathi Kromer – Director of State Advocacy – $110,661.00

Jesus christ....

I wonder how much they all donate? ;)

No, but over £2million is money that has been raised as a direct consequence of this "fad". So, why do you dislike this again?

Try again ALS alone is at over $88.5m compared to $2.6m for the same period last yeat. Let alone macmilliion and other charities people have pledged this dare to.
Had about 10 on face book, only one hasn't mentioned a donation or charity. The rest all have.
And as I said before I never see trends like this.

You appear to be furiously agreeing with me :p

Note: the £2million figure was taken from MNDA's banner on their homepage that says how much has been raised as a consequence of the Ice Bucket Challenge.
