Had a new sub and amp fitted today along with a set of new components and a parrot bluetooth car kit...

When I reach higher volumes the stereo appears to reset, which I am assuming is voltage drop...

Installer said probably just battery low after he spent the day with the ignition on and off etc...

I was wondering if there was anything else like voltage drop on the feed to the headunit that might be the cause..

Gonna drive it about for a few days, see if it improves, but I have only ever experienced this with the sub cutting before, not the whole unit resetting...

The guy has done a pukka install, with 100 amp cable direct from the battery to the amp, HD fuses etc... His workmanship is perfect..

He even replaced all the dodgy bullet connecters with a hand crimped ISO connector as the previous owner had cut the ISO connector off..

He also repaired all the damage the previous fitter had done to my door cards etc...

the earth to the HU might be dodgy. Sometimes it's best to earth it directly to the chassis.

Dodgy alternator?

It has an earth strap from the bolt on the back of the HU to the chassis...

Alternator is fine...

Maybe it is just the battery?

:(

It could simply be a voltage drop if the amp is a very powerful one, i know a lot of places sell large capacity capacitors for this type of problem.

I may be off the mark but it sounds like this could be the issue?

HU voltage or heat issue, my avic used to do the same when it got to warm.

Mark

Yeah I am almost certain HU voltage, not heat, does it cool as well...

will give it a good run this weekend, and if its still doing it after the weekend, will get them to run a decent power cable for the HU straight from the battery...

:D

Looks like its something to do with the parrot 3100 car kit...

If I remove that (iso intercept lead) from the system it all works fine...

:(

Bum,

Does you HU have a tel mute lead, wonder if you could interface with that instead to mute the audio?

It is connected to that...

but also intercepts the front speakers for sound..

and displays whats going on on the radio....

The shop can sort it out, they sold it me...

:D
