Hey guys,

I have a '98 1.4 RT Clio (Orange :D) with the standard tape headunit of which there are only 2 front speakers. Basically I need some recommendations of what to get and how much will fitting cost. I don't want to go mental, just something that is decent with some bass. Maybe a headunit with some decent rear speakers? If so, how much would fitting cost?

Cheers. As you are most probably aware, I don't know much about ICE.

It is very simple to fit a headunit, speakers ect.. I personally wouldnt pay out for it. Although my farther payed 50 pounds to have his cd player, and door speakers fitted from a local garage.

Halfords should do it at a resonable price tho

No it is worth replacing the front speakers. Move the speakers that are in the front right now to the back. Then the new speakers at the front.

I need to know a budget really.

Right I went into Halfords and they said the majority of customers get their headunit and then put in some 6x9s in.

I was thinking of getting the above headunit and then decide what to do with the speakers. What that headunit be a good choice?

Oh dear, don't listen to Halfords at all. Get that Pioneer HU, buy online, much cheaper. Then you want 13cm coaxials and not 6x9's. The 6x9's will cover up the sound with bass, the 13cm speakers will improve the sound quality.

Not a bad price there. :)

Yes the 13cm Coaxials go in the front. The speakers you will take out to fit them, put them in the back of your car.

Cheers. HU ordered. :)

Don't I need a grill for the speakers that are going at the back? What front speakers can you recommend? The ones posted above are decent?

I dont think your car needs any adaptors for speakers.

I guess the rear speakers would just go where the rears are meant to go in the back.

You do realise the RT is meant to have 4 speakers?

tbh id just go for some 13cm infinity kappa components up front with a nice sub in the back, if your feeling really keen get some 13cm coax for the rear. you wont need adapters for any of the speakers in the clio :)

There are only 2 at the front on the door and mini ones.

As for the back, there are none on the rear doors.

Hmm so its front speakers with tweeters.

Is there any space for speakers in the rear?

If it is tweeters then componants could be easy to fit.

There are no spaces in the rear doors. However, am sure you can fit the rear speakers on the back shelf. Will it be quite tough wiring it to the back?

I am not sure really, dunno whether it would be worth the hassle.
