ice melting?

Hi,

Can somebody please provide a source of information confirming a change to summer shipping lanes.

My farther is convinced global warming is BS so i need some evidence otherwise (just to fire up some debate between us!).

Can anybody provide brief factual information that at least shows the summer shipping lanes have opened up bacause ice is melting sooner in the year?

Need to be fact not opinion... not even opinion presented as fact (very common!).

OK just need some very simple hard fact, if possible, not huge reels of text!

I've read (and partly agreed) a couple of white papers on the subject. One was the opinion that, although we're probably speeding up the process, the climate shift is part of a cyclical process that would happen with zero human intervention.

I also am not convinced our society is the cause, but i'm going into it further than i should be right now. At the moment i just want solid proof the ice sheet or whatever, is melting sooner in the summer. i.e. shipping lanes.

OK this is apparently FACT.

... i hate to suggest we could not accurately measter temperature of near-surface temp in 1906.

It's always fun presenting this issue to my farther. He always calls BS. He has that backing of a friend (who helped develop radar for the navy, yes... to say he's intellegent would be a gross understatement.)

OK i will talk to the scientist, he's a little slow now (speech not brain)

as he is very old. But when you talk to him he seems to make very logical sense.

I tend to be bias towards the chaps view, perhaps loyalty i dont know.

My dad has no explanation as to why the artic sea ice has recuced for 4 years, and why the carbod dioxide level has increased (this is all fact). So I consider him beat! The old chap up the village believes the same as my dad so i will have to talk it out with him. Need all the help i can get as i am nothing to him.
