Hello all - i'm in an undecisive whimper of a mood the last few weeks, and don't know what to do with regards to ICE for the MG.

I shall explain what i have:

In the car -

A Cheapie Panasonic CQC1021 CD Tuner from the previous owner.

In the House (from old car) -

A Vietta 4070 Amplifier (3-2-1 Channel amp?, can run 2 speakers and subwoofer)
A Blaupunkt TSW1200 12" Subwoofer, in ported box.
An Ipod Mini

What i would like to have is some system where i have Front Components and subwoofer powered off the Amplifier, and some form of Ipod Integration. This will require without a doubt, a new headunit as the current one has only 1 Pre-out and no Aux Connection (i think!). I have seen the Alpines Headunits, the Harmon Kardon 'Drive and Play' and they all look very nice.

I was quoted £400 including installation for a Blaupunkt Headunit, some front components running off my amp, an aux cable, and my sub/amp all connected up.

Problem is, i dont really have the luxury to spend away £400 in the one go at the moment, but i am utterly fedup with the current situation in the MG. The Headunit is horrible and intermittantly fails, whilst the speakers are tinny and useless. I dont have the luxury of fitting the ICE myself (i'm useless, tried before in previous car and gave up) - although i probably could install a Headunit as the ISO adapter is presumably already connected. I could really do with a suggestion as what to do, because i'm feeling useless at the moment.

Many thanks

Adam

I would probably fit new component speakers first with a decent amp, then a new HU, then a sub. Although if your current HU is intermittent I would get that replaced first as tinny music is better than none!

With an iPod I'd be looking at getting an Alpine HU to use their interface, it's really so much nicer than just a plain Aux cable (although it's a lot more spendy).

Just what i'm looking for :D Any suggestions for components between 100-150?

Thanks for ** reply One More Solo :)

No problem, got to help out the other MG/Rover people! :) I'd wait for someone else's input on components though, I only spent about 70 quid on my Alpines so not sure of that price bracket.

Blaupunkts are very nice head units, but it's easy enough to install this yourself. The only tricky part maybe running wires for your front components from your amp, but I would thoroughly recommend doing the install yourself.

The Blaupunkt units have auxillary inputs too, to allow you to connect an ipod or indeed any other source you require.
