I'm looking to replace the standard ICE in my Mondeo with something a bit better...

So, I'm looking for some recommendations for a decent headunit with proper iPod connectivity (so I can change tracks using the head unit) and speakers to replace the OEM ones in the front and rear doors.

I already have a Nokia CK-7W carkit, so don't want a stereo with a bluetooth car kit built in really.

Budget is fairly flexible, but I don't want to spend a fortune.

If you want good ipod connectivity, it may be also worth looking at www.dension.com, they do little interface units for the Ipod that basically mimic a CD Changer and are availble for OEM stuff, as well as many after market brands, so if you like a headunit that doesn't have Ipod connectivity, this is a good way of adding it, My brother has one for his BMW and it does work very well.

headunit would have to be alpine or pioneer as for speakers 5x7s fit straight in or you can get adapters and fit 6.5" speakers in. how much do you want to spend :)

I'm looking at an Alpine CDE-9850Ri now, but have absolutely no idea what speakers to get...

Help?! :p

However much it takes to get a decent(ish) set-up.

I'm not looking for a fantastic system, just something better than stock (especially as one of the OEM speakers buzzes).

~£150 perhaps on the speakers would be reasonable.

Olly, do you know if the speakers in the Mk3 and Mk2 are the same size? If so I'll be keeping an eye on this as initially I'd quite like some new speakers as one of them has developed a rattle (I seem to keep killing speakers whilst listening to Faithless). I'll also eventually probably get a new HU.
