Ichi the Killer

When I read the title I just knew what you'd say!

I think pretty much every person that ever watches Ichi says it.

I've watched it a few times and it still confuses me :p
 
i think its all wrapped up around itself hehe, i mean the title itself "ichi the killer" ichi being japanese for the number 1, whether its just because the guy has a 1 on the back of his suit or for deeper reasons that are explained in the end i dont know.

ive tried for ages to put together ideas and reasons for the ending, but i cant really form a coherent meaning myself, let alone explain it!
 
The director Takeshi Miike won't tell us what the ending actually means so it's up to your interpretation.
The general view of it is that Kakihara imagined Ichi kicking him in the head as he would love to die in such a way. That is why when you see him in an aerial shot at the end he has no mark on his head.
 
I thought the film was brilliant, didnt fully understand the end but enjoyed it anyway. My friend who watched it with me looked confused pretty much the whole way through.
 
Yeah I think it's just Kakihara imagining being killed like that when really he just threw himself off the building. Been a while since I saw it but I remember that's what I made of the ending.
