iCloud Backup or Local Backup

I've always done local backups - but to be honest, they are getting to big to manage effectively especially with multiple devices (PC).

Is it recommended and safe to go iCloud backup only?

I use icloud backup. I don't even notice it. It just does it's thing in the background.

With the iCloud backup, does that also store a copy locally like Dropbox does? If so, I'd say go for it. That's how I've got our server backed up now. Mirrored drives, another for redundancy and everything automatically backed up to our Cloud space. It's accessible from anywhere and it's an offsite backup method should something happen to our server.
