icloud/mobileme and apple id's

i've been reading up on ios5 and icloud and playing around with ios5 but i'm thoroughly confused about how mobileme/icloud and itunes interact for multiple accounts....

As it stands I have an old apple ID from when itunes store launched that out of habit have used for all music/video/app purchases over the years. I also have a mobileme ID as from what I recall at setup it wouldn't let me convert my itunes apple ID to a mobileme account. These two have happily coexisted on my iphone up until now, but icloud seems to be unifying mail/contacts/calendars/content under one account and i'm not sure what will happen now.

I can see that either my mobileme converts to icloud and i effectively lose my itunes content/purchases or my old apple id converts into icloud and i keep my content but i guess i lose my mobileme email address.

Can anyone shed any light on how itunes/mobileme and icloud interact with each other?
 
Any @me or @mac accounts will turn into iCloud.

Anything not (i.e not Apple addresses) will be as they are now, i.e. no calendar syncing.

I've just moved my purchasing over to my me email address. Although having two different accounts will do my head in over time.

It's annoying as hell that Apple won't let you merge accounts.
