So who on here uses iCloud?

Trying to get a better understanding of what the benefits to me would be? I don't have a MAC, i don't have an iPad. Just an iPhone 4S, iPod NANO and an iPod shuffle.

My music collection is around 40gig, which most of which is on my iPhone. All my music collection is on my PC's.

Don't see the point of it myself, unless I'm missing something? I have proper backups in place, via alternative methods, so I'll never lose my music.

What am I missing out on?

At the moment it is photostream that does it for me.

I take a picture on my iPhone and it gets to all other iCloud devices without hooking up a cable.

It's good for syncing contacts and calendars, if nothing else. Also, the free @me.com email address is free (for life) and can be setup anywhere just like any other IMAP account.

I use iCloud, its awesome!
Like mentioned, i use it for accessig my contacts from the iphone/pc and laptop, and the contact list is always upto date and exactly the same accross everything.

The daily iphone backup is also awesome over wifi, without the need to do anything. Photo stream is good, i use this.

And now i have yet another email address to use (which is nice and short thanks to the 'me' domain).

Im not sure if you need an icloud account to use 'find my friends' but we actually use this quite a bit!

Does anyone have any experiance with restoring from a backup from iCloud? I can only seem to find an option to restore the entire phone, i cant seem to find a way of restoring a single app's data? If i ever needed to...

i'm using it in the same way as mobileme as a way to sync contacts/mail etc between devices, so no real change there.

i've restored my 4s from the cloud and it worked as expected. Doesn't seem to be anyway to do individual apps at the moment, which is a shame, but maybe over time they'll enable that.

I've removed it from my iPhone 4S to test to see if that was causing the silly-short battery life. Test in progress...

is there no way of syncing google contacts with icloud ?
i have outlook as my contacts but all my email addresses and stuff are on google

Urn, I do believe there is. Sync with gmail. Turn off contact sync and then Log into your iCloud account. Turn off the gmail account and it will ask if you want to delete contacts say no. Turn off your iCloud contacts and back on and it will ask to merge your accounts and you will see them in you iCloud account. You can then happily turn off your sync with gmail.

Not really no, I own a iPad, iPhone and MBP.

My contacts are synced to my gmail email (because they were when I had my android phone, though I could do with putting this onto iCloud somehow.

Photos, well I use my windows desktop as my main pc, so if I wanted the photos on my desktop I normally, plug the phone in, email them.
If I wanted to use the iCloud method, I would have to turn on MBP, go into the app (whatever its called), save photos, copy photos to my shared folder and then access from desktop.
Also find it silly how photos taken with the iPhone will then pop up in the photo stream on the iPhone (and these can't be deleted)
