Ok ill give it to you straight :)

Im basically trying to setup Internet Connection Sharing at my Girlfriends house..

There are 2 PC's both with Windows XP.

The host has a Netgear Wireless Adapter and a Tiscali USB ADSL modem.. (cant remeber the name of the device... a pretty popular model though)

The Pc im trying to share it on has an Asus PCI internal Wireless card..

Now i have set the system up the best i can think but the even though the two wireless cards can connect (via ad-hoc) the internet just wont share. Ive enabled the "share the internet option" on the ADSL modem and the "dial connection if not available etc" .. but still nothing.

Now i think the wireless connections arnt connecting properly. For one it takes ages on the aquiring network address stage which i thought was wrong.. and when they didnt connect it came up with some wierd IP like 167.132.32.78

i thought it should be a nice internal ip like 192.168.0.27 and the gateway should be 192.168.0.1 but there currently isnt a gateway.

Have i enabled the sharing on the right connection? Or do i enable it on the wireless adapter? I can never remember which is right.

You don't need to run the wizard, but if the machine isn't getting an IP either ICS isn't running or the machine's DHCP requests are getting blocked...

It might be worth manually setting an IP on the wireless machine - the ICS machine's wireless adapter should've been given an IP you can use as an example.
