i am trying to help somebody to share share connection over a network, he connects with a usb modem plugged into his computer, then it goes via a router to over computers. We did manage to get it going but he has had to format his computer, now it is all running again i share connection etc and share files and i can see his computer with others connected to network and use stuff on his computers network like photos etc but the internet is getting thorugh, even with firewalls turned off?? any suggestions? thanks for any help

I'm reading that as being 'the internet isn't getting through even with firewalls off' ?
I typed out about 3 paragraphs in reply to this and then re-read it and decided it was simpler to point you to http://www.practicallynetworked.com/sharing/ have an step by step tut on the subject with pic's. Once you've had a go with that if you get stuck let us know.
From the sounds of it you need to set the PC2 (without the modem) to use the PC1 (with the modem) as it's gateway. As you mention a usb modem on the PC1 and then the others connected by a router (and i've got a feeling you may be on about a switch or hub?) you may need to set the router to use PC1 as it's gateway. Be great if you could clarify ?
