I'd forgotten how utterly awesome sci-fi can be.

Babylon 5 is an interesting one. Really slow to get into, but I loved the Shadows. Wish they'd made more of the Membari/Earth wars though.

i started watching earth final conflict again. that was so good in the beginning and its a shame it didnt do very well. i loved the the spiritual/technological direction of the show. it was refreshingly different to most sci-fi's.

It was canned near the end of the first season, it started at the same time as two other sci-fi type shows a couple of years ago, and was the least popular of the 3 (the others being Invasion and Surface). I liked all 3, but both Invasion and Surface were cancelled after their first seasons. :(

The remaining Threshold episodes were shown some time later on a Dutch channel.

American shows get cancelled way to easily; Firefly & Drive spring to mind as my faves, along with the above.

Really annoying, I thought Threshold was great :(

Thankfully, Kyle XY has a second series :D

BSG has been one of the most refreshing tv series ever. The tail end of the third series the quality did drop but picked up again to setup what should be an excellent final seaon. The start of season 3 was

Start of season 3 montage so spoilers:
The video doesn't have the most holy **** moment from the fourth episode in it though. Check the other vids for that - it's pretty obvious so I won't say what it is in case people want to remain spoiler free.

BTW Chief Tyrol is not a minor character!

Star Trek was by far and wide the best TV series around in terms of quality.

TNG for example was amazing, I think I've seen every episode maybe 20 times at least (thanks to Sky One repeating the series every year for the last 10 years).

Picard, Riker, Crusher, Data. Amazing all of them, perfect cast, perfectly acted, excellent scripts, visuals way beyond their time.

Then came DS9 - what a bore that was to begin with but it quickly became just as good as TNG. It had phenomenal characters in it like Garek, Quark etc and the war with the dominion and cardassia was just incredible. Actually that reminds me I think I need to pick up the entire series on dvd and watch it again.

Unfortunately there just isn't anything like this anymore but there's a few things that come close in quality like Weeds, Sopranos. Of course they're not Sci Fi though!

Never been a big fan of Babylon 5 - it was good but seemed so silly in comparison to star trek.

Star Trek TNG had a few minor flaws though.

1: If the characters were any flatter you could store them in envelopes (they barely developed at all over 7 years).
2: The total number of plots for the 7 seasons was about 4, with just the characters/alien race and technical problem with the warp engine changing a bit :p
3: Events from one episode barely had any affect on future episodes (with a handful of exceptions) - DS9 and to a much greater extent B5 both had much more coherent ongoing stories, with relatively "minor" events from one episode having effects on later episodes (sometimes very big effects).

DS9 was a big improvement with characters who actually changed and had some depth to them (they weren't all evil, or pure as the driven snow)

Apparently JMS pitched Bab5 to Paramount about a year before they started making DS9... Now, nobody can prove anything, but the similarities between the two series are way too many to be coincidental if you catch my drift... ;)
