I'd like a 970 or 980 but don't like the styling...of any of them, fussy so & so needs to vent frust

Going to be a 970 SLI setup or a single 980, in a windowed, colour coordinated red & black Corsair 450D with case lighting and black braided cables trimmed with custom red cable combs, so as you can probably tell, the aesthetics are important to me..:D

Nvidia Reference designs...too 'silver' with green LED lighting.

MSi...would be perfect except no backplate, I mean seriously, bloody cheapskates..no backplate!!!

Asus/Galax/Zotac/EVGA/Inno...either no red trim or if it does, is not visible from the side.

Palit...I want red trim, but that 980...with a white logo...Urggghh!!

Inno3D ichill...looks ridiculous & OTT, something only an Essex boy racer chav would buy.

Right now I'm tempted to go for an MSI R290 crossfire setup, which apart from being amazing value, has both red trim & a backplate, although i'm going to need to move upto an 850w PSU costing another £100 or so..which is a bit of a pain, but at £530 all in, would still cost less than a couple of decent 970's.

That's how put off I am by the styling on these new Nvidia cards...thinking of going back to AMD after just 6mths of changing to Nvidia, I like all the extra driver and PhysX Nvidia goodies as well.

Sorry for the rant...but you'd think at least one of the board makers could get the aesthetics just right...for me:p

So...

Sad.

:D

Never understood the fascination with having everything looking colour coded inside, if I can find a card that matches I'll probably buy it like the MSI does for my build but it wouldn't put me off buying a great card. Maybe if you go to LANs or something and show your rig off.

You could ask that chap in Portugal to make you a backplate.

Or just wander in to any shop with a laser/water milling machine.

Being picky can be very costly in this hobby. :)

Paint the reference, sand off the green, job done.

Make a life size photo of a computer you like and stick it onto the side of your case? that way you can choose whatever hardware you like based on performance, as it should be. :p
